After last week’s big freeze, South Shields Westoe should be raring to go as they welcome Acklam to Wood Terrace on Saturday. After a fruitful January, the home side will be hoping to continue with the run of good form they are currently seeing.
Westoe were the victors in their last meeting against Acklam back in October, winning by 19-36 in a blustery day in Teesside and should be firm favourites at their home ground.
Westoe field a strong pack, with additional power on the bench with Anthony Rumis and big Rob Scorer, returning after a long absence this season.
A lively back-line is led by Sam Seymour and fit again Andy Sutherland, with a powerful midfield and dangerous back three, who can create scores from anywhere on the pitch.
Despite sitting near the foot of the table, Acklam have shown they can compete with teams in the league, recently earning a draw against Horden, so Westoe need to ensure they focus throughout and perform to their best.
The match kick-off is 2.15 at Wood Terrace.
