South Shields Westoe travel to league leaders, Durham City, this Saturday, looking to continue their winning ways since the New Year. They have played some outstanding matches so far; however this should be the sternest test in some time.
Durham have only lost twice this season, including a 29-26 loss to Westoe at Wood Terrace last year, but with home advantage they will start as close favourites for the win.
If Westoe can continue with current form and reproduce their solid defence, this game is up for grabs and the side are more than capable of pulling off the double over the home side.
Either way it is likely that this will be a close fought, entertaining match-up, that could be decided on a single missed tackle or mistake.
Westoe make several changes to last week’s side. Haydn Richards comes in at hooker to replace Raymie Elliott and Joe McKenzie starts at Open Side, with Martin Bengston reverting to the bench. Luke Moffett moves to fly-half, Jamie Preston shifts to the centre and Matt Rannigan returns to complete the back-line.
The team is completed with a strong bench of Bengston, Scorer and Judson.
