Having only visited Mossley on Saturday in the FA Trophy, in one of those strange football quirks, the Celts now host the Lilywhites in the league on Tuesday.

Whilst Farsley overcame Mossley 3-1 at the weekend, with goals from Aiden Savory and a brace from Lewis Nightingale, they will be taking nothing for granted going into the game. Mossley may not have won a home league fixture this season, but they have only lost one of seven games on the road.

James Walshaw will once again be unavailable as he serves the second of his three game ban, and it remains to be seen whether Ryan Serrant is fit for inclusion in the squad.

Last season, both league fixtures between the sides were played in the last two months of 2015/16. At Throstle Nest in March, the Lilywhites took the lead on seventeen minutes through Tom Pratt, but the Celts were back level within four minutes, when Leon Osborne played a swift one-two with Lewis Nightingale before slotting home. However, it was the visitors who took the points when Celts keeper Tom Taylor brought down Michael Fish in the area. Kyle McGonigle stepped up and duly converted to seal a 2-1 win for the Lilywhites.

In the return game in April at Seel Park, Mossley were quick out of the blocks and were 2-0 ahead after only nine minutes, with goals from Dougie Carroll and Dave Short. Aiden Savory got the Celts back in the game on eleven minutes and he brought Farsley level on twenty-seven minutes. Skipper Robbie O’Brien then put the Celts ahead with seventeen minutes remaining. However, the scoring wasn’t finished and Dougie Carroll salvaged a point for the home side on eighty minutes to level at 3-3.

This is the first of three consecutive home games for the Celts, as after Tuesday night, they host Hyde United on Saturday, followed by another Tuesday game as Ramsbottom United are the visitors. The Celts will be aiming to make home advantage count as they look to put pressure on the teams above them.
