There is nothing but local pride at stake at Plantation Park (3pm Monday) as Norwich United entertain near neighbours Wroxham. The visitors have been ahead in the table since the autumn, putting real pressure on the leading pack for some time before falling away in recent weeks, whilst the Planters were nervously looking over our shoulders until mid March.
The fact that there is only seven points between the clubs after Saturday’s results, Wroxham going down 2-0 at home to Stowmarket Town whilst the Planters drew 1-1 at Brantham Athletic thanks to a Haydn Davis free kick, is testament to the brilliant run since the introduction of Ben Fowkes. The Planters have now gone seven games unbeaten, including five straight wins before Saturday.
With the Planters also winning both previous encounters this season, a surprise 3-1 victory in the Norfolk Senior Cup in November and a 2-1 Boxing Day scoreline which gave Cedric Anselin his first three point haul as manager, Anselin will be hoping to make it another three points as he closes in on a top ten finish.
