On Saturday the 1st XV travel to Harrow for Round 14 of the league. Both sides won last weekend, Harrow beating Verulamians 58-5 and London Welsh with a 31-15 victory over Tabard.
A very warm welcome awaits at Harrow with a well-stocked bar to cater for all tastes. Four barrels of Tring Brewery’s Sidepocket and two barrels of Greene King IPA should satisfy the needs of ale drinkers with four further brews sold by the bottle. Carling, Stella, Guinness and Stringbow are also on tap. A BBQ will be running from 2pm plus there will be a tea bar selling hot drinks, soft drinks, bottles and more. The clubhouse is open to all.
Since Harrow’s defeat at ODP in late September they have payed nine league matches, winning four of them. Losses against Datchworth (3-8) and Kilburn (26-24) were followed by wins over Tabard (20-15) and Cheshunt (30-7). Mixed fortunes continued for the final four games before Christmas with a27-0 defeat on Hackney Marshes against Old Streetonians, a 29-12 home win against Royston and then losses to Stevenage Town (26-10) and Old Merchant Taylors’ (6-10).
The successful visit to Verulamians was Harrow's first win on the road since January 2016 and ended a losing run of 20 away games. Harrow outscored Verulamians by nine tries to one and had secured the bonus point by half time.
Six wins and eight bonus points put Harrow seventh in the league with a points difference of +72. Harrow have conceded just 215 points in their 13 games and with their home form the visit to Grove Field could provide a tough test.
Kick off is at 3pm.
