Camborne will be looking to get back to winning ways this weekend when they meet Newbury Blues in the league for the first time.
The squad has been hit with injuries to key players since the start of the season with the main area of concern being in the second row where the team has fielded a recognised lock in just two matches so far.
This week the selectors are hoping to see a return to action for former County second row Ashley Lawton who's been out for a month, his experience will be a real boost for the team.
Another player expected to be fit is leading points scorer, fly half David Mankee. The former Cornwall no.10 has been absent for 5 weeks through injury and his kicking has been sorely missed. Player/Coach Rhodri Mcatee is another who could be available (if required). The former Cornish Pirates wing scored against the Blues when they were last at the REC eight seasons ago.
Recent signing, halfback Dylan Monopoli who twisted an ankle after coming on for his debut at Weston is likely to have a fitness test on Thursday. Following a promising start the New Zealander will be hoping to make the squad for his first taste of rugby at the REC.
Camborne's newest recruit Harvey Bell, a versatile player who is comfortable anywhere along the backline, is another who could be in contention for selection. Harvey is a former Truro player who's been working around the globe for the past couple of years playing a good standard of rugby. RAF u23 Nick Slaney (wing/full back) had his first training session with the squad on Tuesday and will no doubt be pushing for a place very soon.
With players returning from injury and the recent signings Camborne's beleaguered squad is now starting to take shape. This will give selectors the opportunity to rest some of their squad who've put their bodies on the line for the team since the start of the season.
