Tomorrow we welcome our Division 1 opponents Dunstable Town for our final fixture of the season. The Club is based in Dunstable Town, Bedfordshire and are nicknamed either The Blues or The Duns. The Creasey Park Football Centre holds up to 3500 supporters, and they play on a grass pitch measuring 100.5 x 64.5m. Dunstable Town were founded in 1950 when they joined the Metropolitan League. From 1950 the club played at Kingway until they moved to Brewers Hill. The ground was later renamed Creasey Park after Wally Creasey, one of the first directors of the club. It currently has a capacity of 3,500, of which 350 are seated and 1,000 covered. Dunstable Town and AFC Dunstable currently pitch share for their home games. During the 1975-6 season the Club folded through debts, and Dunstable FC was formed in order to finish the remaining fixtures. In 1998 the new Dunstable Town FC was formed and joined Division One of the Spartan South Midlands League.

Previously Dunstable have attracted many famous faces including Barry Fry who managed them from the end of the 73-74 season, George Best and Jeff Astle. Best only played in two friendly matches but Astle stayed at the club and scored 34 goals This helped them finish as Division One South runners-up, and earning them promotion to the Premier Division

Dunstable Town FC play in a home kit which is a blue and white shirt, dark blue shorts and socks; the away kit is white and blue shirts with white shorts and socks. The goalkeeper plays in a very colourful kit of a lime green shirt, yellow shorts and yellow socks.

Sutton are currently in the play off places and really only need a draw this Saturday against a side who currently lie bottom of the table, but with a win can save them from relegation. It’s going to be a tough encounter with both teams having something to play for, so hopefully a good game is about to unfold.

We did beat them 1-0 last time we played, so Sutton know they can beat them. But in a game of this intensity only the brave and bold come through with the spoils. Can Sutton keep their nerve or will Dunstable produce the Great Escape?

This Saturday Coles Lane is the only place to be. The lads need your support.

Evostik South Division 1 Central.

Here’s to an entertaining and successful game.

COME ON YOU ROYALS.
