Old Gs are back in the action on Saturday after the festive break as they host old adversaries Gillingham Anchorians in one of the biggest games of the season so far. The match sees 2nd play 3rd in Kent 1, with a lot a stake as Old Gs have the opportunity to close the gap on the top 2 and Anchorians with the opportunity to cement their place in 2nd as they look to challenge Ashford in top spot.

A win for Old Gs could see them close to within a point of their rivals - but they are fully aware that the visitors from the Medway towns will be in no mood to let this happen. Matches between the two sides are always close affairs, tight battles in which key moments can swing the game either way. Earlier in the season Old Gs were on the end of a 27-14 defeat at Gillingham, where they failed to capitalise on their moments of superiority. They will look to set the record straight on Saturday, but know that it will not be easy against an Anchorians side who are known for their hard ball carrying and elusive outside backs. Old Gs will need to be on top form to secure the victory that could well and truly set their season alight.

In terms of selection, coach Andy Miller has had to makes some tough calls this week. Paul Mitchell and Brett Buckingham are the props where they form an Andrew Kidd sandwich, who is at hooker. Frazer Barnes and Joe Martin will look to drive Old Gs forward from the 2nd row. There is an destructive physical look to the back row with Ash Bourne, Sam Baker and Andy Morris the trio of loose forwards.

Grant Roe continues at scrum half, with Matt Holdstock at fly half. Matt Thompson is at 12 with Mat Wilson outside him at 13. Martyn Langley and James Hood are on the wings with Chris Johnson completing the line up at full back.

The replacements are Matt Johnson, Ben Wadsworth and Ryan Lockyer.

Kick off is at 2pm and all support is welcome!
