Background: Bury Town are once again in action at the Denny Bros Stadium this weekend after last weekend's draw with Canvey Island, and for the third and final time this season we welcome fellow Suffolk opposition in for the form of Felixstowe & Walton United, who will be making their first trip to us as an Isthmian League side after their promotion last season. The Blues suffered an opening day defeat against the Seasiders at the Goldstar Ground, going down 1-3 after Tommy Robinson's dismissal in the first half which had an effect on the afternoon's proceedings.
The Seasiders currently sit in 14th position and are adjusting to life at a higher level, with 25 points on the board so far. There has already been a change of manager at Dellwood Avenue, with former Bury Town player Ian Watson taking sole charge of the side following the departure of Kevin O'Donnell. The Blues sit 5 points ahead of their visitors with 30 points on the board, and following that last gasp draw over Canvey Island last weekend, Ben Chenery will be looking for his side to get back to winning ways, with his side yet to register three points in 2019 after a good December. As with a lot of ‘Suffolk Derbies’ there is a few players on the opposition side who have played for the Blues, with Rhys Barber, Callum Bennett and Darcy De’Ath all having played with us at some point in their careers.
The two sides have met a number of times over the years, and before Felixstowe & Walton United was formed in 2000, we faced their predecessors Felixstowe Port & Town in the Eastern Counties League. The Blues have much the better record over the years since we first met Felixstowe Port & Town in the 1996-97 season following our relegation from the Southern League. Out of the 19 times we have met Felixstowe since 1996, we have won 13 matches, drawing 3 and losing 3, scoring 42 goals and conceding 16.
Injury News: There is no fresh injury or suspension news ahead of the match. Ryley Scott will return to the side after being in action for Ipswich Town's FA Youth Cup side last weekend.
