Background: Bury Town are on the road for their penultimate away game of the season when they travel to Burroughs Park to take on Great Wakering Rovers, who were promoted back to the Isthmian League in the summer after just 1 season in the Essex Senior League. The Blues last visit to Burroughs Park was Rovers last game before relegation at the end of the 2017-18 season in which Bury raced into a 4-0 half time lead before Rovers pulled a consolation goal back in the second half. As it turned out, Rovers only needed one season back at Step 5 to regain their place at Step 4.
There will be no such last day disappointment for Rovers this season, as they are sat comfortably in 14th place in the table with 38 points to their name, and fresh off the back of a 3-0 win away at Mildenhall Town last Saturday. They are also on the back of a 5 game unbeaten run, their last home fixture being a 2-2 draw with confirmed play off side Coggeshall Town, showing that the Blues will have their work cut out if they are to return from South Essex with any points on Saturday.
Ben Chenery's side do however go into the game in good form, on the back of two straight wins away at Barking and at home to Brentwood Town last Saturday. With just four games of the season left, the Blues will be aiming to finish in their current position of 6th in the Bostik North table.
Injury News: Bury Town will still be without Cemal Ramadan and Joe Carden, both who have had operations in the past week to cure recent injuries, and Ryan Jolland is also set to still be sidelined.
