Chess Valley – Proposed Disciplinary Procedure for 2012/13

In the case of a Player being sent off:

Craig Hocking to be informed by telephone (078 159 60125) on a Sunday
The information he requires is:

The players name
The game and opposition
Brief Description of the Incident & Names of witnesses
Does the player accept responsibility

Craig to then inform Herts. of the sending off and the circumstances around it. (Herts need to be informed within 48 hours of the sending off).

Craig will then inform the rest of the disciplinary committee of the event on the Monday.

If the player accepts responsibility and the incident is minor then the committee may discuss the matter and issue a penalty without a hearing.

Unless the committee finds the offence to be very trivial and undeserving of a sending off the player should expect a minimum of one weeks ban.

If the player does not accept responsibility and/or the matter is more serious then a hearing with the committee and the player will be arranged. If possible this will be held before the following Friday. The player will not be available for selection until after the hearing has been held, regardless of when this is.

The hearing will be made up of:

The Disciplinary Committee
The Player in question.
Any witnesses (these can either be called by the committee or the player).

Ideally witnesses who were at the game should attend – coaches, other players etc. If this is not possible then a full written description of the event will be needed (from a reliable witness who was at the game).

Players will have no right of appeal to any sentence from the Committee (unless in the unlikely event that the subsequent Herts hearing finds the clubs sentence unduly harsh).

Craig Hocking to then inform Herts of the outcome of the clubs disciplinary process.

The player will then need to go through the usual Herts. Disciplinary process which will involve a trip to Hertford and a possible further ban and/or fine.

Players should therefore be aware that being sent off in most cases will result in a minimum one weeks ban from CVRFC i.e. they will miss the next game. Plus a trip to Hertford to stand before the Herts. Disciplinary Panel who could then hand out a further ban and/or fine.

Players will be required to pay any fine Herts. Disciplinary panel impose on the evening of their hearing.
