We have been incredibly lucky at Corsham netball with loads of new players. Netball is a team sport and it was always going to be a tricky season while we get to know everyone and how they play. For some of us who have played together for 10-30 years, it was strange to take the court and not know exactly how everybody plays! That being said, it was exciting to see how we jelled together as a team and I must say the team spirit was great from the outset.

Everyone was nervous but excited as we took the court and it was roughly on centre for the first quarter. Corsham edged in front to go into the quarter time break with a 3 goal lead.

In the next quarter, the new centre court players of Sam, Sophie and Susannah were superb and got many interceptions leading to Corsham going in at half time 4 goals up.

Corsham brought on Lorna and Ruth at half time and kept both Circle duets the same. Stacey and Simone in defensive and battling for every rebound; and Jaz and Liza in attack having some lovely link up play. Corsham kept there lead and went into the final quarter feeling confident.

Fitness played a part in the final quarter......... as Devizes upped their game and shortened the lead. A few throw away balls from Corsham (mainly from their captain, sorry about that!) led to a nervous finish. The supporters on the sidelines were definitely feeling the tension!

As the final whistle went, we were relieved to win by one goal!!!! 31-30. All credit to Devizes and it was a lovely game to play.

POM: Liza Druce, great link up play with Jaz and consistent shooting makes this a worthy POM.

Next match: Thursday 8th Nov vs Chippenham 6. Fingers crossed for another win!
