A round-up of all the news from Fairford Town FC

THE 2014/15 season is now well underway and it’s great to have things in full swing – both on and off the pitch.

The start to the new campaign was perhaps the busiest ever for a variety of reasons. Off the pitch, there was the successful RIAT Airshow with the committee and other volunteers again mucking in to make it an enjoyable occasion for all.

The visit of the FA Cup itself in Fairford was quite something. There was media attention far and beyond the usual – with TV features as well as coverage on the FA website and BBC Sport. A gallery of images from the day can be found here – hopefully many of you managed to have your photo taken with the cup!

Club facilities have been improved over the summer months with the usual clear-outs and tidy-ups taking place in addition to the new home and away dugouts, but it is for more tangible projects for which funding is being sought – such as new windows, showers for the home changing room and a new kitchen. Hopefully there will be positive news on this front before too long.

There is no home game for the first team or reserves this Saturday but look out for comprehensive coverage of the first team game at Lydney Town via the club’s Twitter account (@FairfordTownFC).
Good luck to the reserves who head to Cheltenham Saracens in the cup. Let's hope they can continue their fine start.

This Sunday, Swindon Town Ladies return to Cinder Lane for their home game with Larkhall. We are grateful to be hosting STLFC again for what is their third in Fairford. They beat Cheltenham 4-1 away from home last time out and this Sunday should be another good encounter. As always, entry to these games at Cinder Lane is free and kick-off is 2pm.

The bar will be open from 12pm so please do come along and make an afternoon of it.
