CHAIRMAN Ray Leader has hailed the club’s bright future as hundreds of children played in the stadium to mark the opening of the new changing rooms.

These new facilities will be a real boost to the club.
- Helen Whately

Helen Whately broke off from campaigning to retain her seat as Faversham and mid-Kent MP to officially open the building in front of dignitaries, officials, supporters and players.
Faversham Town youth teams from across the club’s age groups played matches throughout the day and evening on the stadium pitch in the first festival marking the occasion.
Each Lilywhites side invited a local rival to play a friendly, with the club supplying barbecue food for both teams and attractions including a bouncy castle and football speed gun cage.
Town’s new disability side hosted Maidstone Utd as they played for the first time at Shepherd Neame Stadium in front of dignitaries and sponsors.
Photographs of the event were taken by Nick Beal of www.nickbealphotography.co.uk, where a gallery of photos can be viewed.
The building project was made possible thanks to a £150,000 grant from the Premier League, through the Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF), the largest funders of non-league football in the country.
It will ensure that the Lilywhites facilities meet the National Ground Grading Criteria needed to compete in Step Four of the national league system as they continue to move forward.
The building houses new changing rooms for players and match officials, along with a physio room and upgraded spectator facilities.
The party of dignitaries at the ceremony included Barry Bright, Phil Smith and Colin Boswell of Kent FA, Nick Robinson of league sponsors Ryman, Swale Borough Council leader Andrew Bowles, Shepherd Neame chief executive Jonathon Neame and head of free-on sales Giles Hilton, Peter Williams of Viridor, Chris Wetherill of Kent County Council, Giles Hilton Shepard and Paul Bennett of club sponsors Connect Personnel, solicitor Helen O’Brien and Richard Parry and Chris Page of construction firm Parry Page, who oversaw the development.
Helen Whately opened the changing room by unveiling a plaque.
She said: “They are now looking terrific and these new facilities will be a real boost to the club – both the players and the fans.
“Congratulations to everyone involved and many thanks for your hard work in making this happen.”

Town’s Chairman Ray Leader thanks the officials and sponsors who had helped ensure the massive milestone in the club’s future had become reality.
He added: “The club are indebted to the Premier League, through the FSIF, Viridor Credits, Kent County Council & Parry Page Projects Ltd for their support, without which these facilities would not be possible. Our existing changing rooms were over 60 years old and in very poor condition.
“This brings a new chapter in the history of Faversham Town FC, helping it to provide excellent facilities for the local community, which will serve future generations of young sports people over the next 60 years.”
Peter McCormick OBE, Chairman of the Football Stadia Improvement Fund, said: “These stadia improvements at the Shepherd Neame Stadium are a huge boost for all connected with Faversham Town FC, and the local football community.
“The new changing pavilion ensures the Lilywhites now meet the required stadia regulation, which will enable them to progress further up the football pyramid.
“The Premier League is a huge supporter of grassroots football and this project is another great example of its continued investment, through the FSIF, in stadia infrastructure at the lower levels of the game.”
