The ongoing trials and tribulations of the Warriors club inc Disco, fixtures, world tournament, ribbons and trophies...

we need a good turnout on and off the field, if you can’t play please support.

A busy week for the Warriors this week with the January Disco taking place on Wednesday 14th and then the 1st game of the new year when Croeserw come to Llanelli on Sunday (18th).

Further down are the minutes of the latest committee meeting which will also show how the club is developing and what is coming up.

DISCO: We’re back at EJs bar in Llanelli on 14th for the 1st disco of 2015. As ever DJ Gerbil will be playing the music and getting the Warriors party vibe going. 6:30-9:30pm, £3 entry (carers go free). Any ideas for improving the disco or early song requests please comment or get in touch.

Croeserw RFC: “The Bog Wanderers” will be making the trek from the edge of the Llynfi valley to Burry Port. They have assembled a good squad and a quick glance at their facebook page will demonstrate that they are looking forward to a good day. Those who made the trip earlier in the year will remember not only the tough time we had on field, http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/llanelliwarriorsrfc/s/match-centre-3612/0-2668052/ but also the great welcome we had off it with the live entertainment almost being as good as Jumpin’ John. Therefore we need a good turnout on and off the field, if you can’t play please support. Kick off on Sunday (18th) is at 2:30pm.

Development

CLUB

Transport
Bus Driver Test: Gareth Ladd fit to sit again. Action – Neil Parker to coordinate. Discussed transport. Mark Lewis driving worked very well – possibility of making it a more permanent arrangement to be investigated.
No longer to meet in New Dock Stars following request from the club. Arrange those with cars to call past Town Hall on training nights. Those requiring lifts to be proactive in requests. Action – Lee to ask people to contact him if they require lift

Disability Sport Wales have introduced a four tiered (Ribbon, Bronze, Silver and Gold) identification and accreditation process which any sports club can go through to show they are committed to providing and delivering inclusive sport.: Gwilym continuing to collate information, policies and procedures as club works towards the 1st level - ribbon award. Achieving this should give parents, members, sponsors and any other partners confidence that the Warriors have passed this accreditation which requires various policies and procedures to be in place (e.g. qualified coaches, 1st aiders, risk assessment etc). Gwilym has coordinated this and the club have approximately ¾ of the documentation required signed off. Action – Gwilym to continue.

Coaches/referees/1st aiders: Gwilym has put forward names of those interested in coaching to Gary James/Burry Port RFC. Steven Rees and Daren Pollitt added their names as potential 1st aiders. (action Gwilym)

President – Scott Quinell has agreed to be President of Llanelli Warriors RFC but has warned of poor availability. Committee very pleased to have his support.

Richard to ask friend re possibility of sorting things for club account at other branches and if old signatories have to be involved.

CONCEPT – club agreement to forward concept of mixed ability rugby.

Shine Presentation: Warriors presentation at Learning Disability Wales conference has had more positive feedback and it’s hoped the club will be invited to speak at future events.

Ability Rugby International: The Federation of mixed ability clubs formed last March is almost ready to launch its website. The Warriors have made a facebook page to coincide with this and it is also almost imminent. ARI will award a trophy – the Participation Cup - on a points system based heavily on fixtures played with less weighting on results. At present the Warriors lead the Gladiators at the head of the table although not all results have been collated.

Cardiff match(es)/Cardiff mixed ability side – still hope to play matches in Cardiff in 14.3.15 (Wales v Ireland) and 17.4.15 alongside UK LD Nurse conference. Gwilym in discussion with Joe Davies, a local WRU development officer and Cardiff Disability Sports Development Officer over best way to try and establish a Cardiff side. Gwilym hopes the Warriors might have a leading role in a cone and try day based in Cardiff from which training sessions can be held and then a team established.
