10. Accidents & Incidents - Guide & Reporting

GUIDELINES FOR DEALING WITH AN INCIDENT / ACCIDENT

Stay calm but act swiftly and observe the situation. Is there danger of further injuries?

Listen to what the injured person is saying.

Alert the first aider who should take appropriate action for minor injuries.

In the event of an injury requiring specialist treatment

CALL THE EMERGENCY SERVICES.

Ideally use a pitch side mobile phone - any problems with this...
THE TELEPHONE IS SITUATED IN THE CLUB HOUSE BEHIND THE BAR THE FAR END OF THE BAR.

Deal with the rest of the group and ensure that they are safe and adequately supervised.

DO NOT move someone with major injuries .Wait for the emergency medics.

Contact the injured person's parents.

Complete an incident/accident report form.

Old Elthamians RFC is proud to say that many of their coaches are trained in first aid and also trained in when to call in professional help.

Please respect the knowledge that they bring to accident/incident situations. They will respect your knowledge if you are trained in first aid or from that profession, but if you are not you could do more damage to a situation!
