With record crowds on the touchline it was a momentous day on the Marshes with Street reaching a cup final for the first time in the clubs history.

1st XV Captain Harry Marson was delighted with the win. This result shows just how far we have come as team since September and we now have something to show for our efforts! We will build now ready for next season.
Street had drawn home advantage against Hillingdon Abbots a team who they had been beaten heavily by at the start of the season. There was a huge amount of pride riding on the result and Old Streetonians were determined to show what they were really capable of. With only a light breeze, the pitch looking perfect, it was ideal playing conditions for the style of rugby Street love to play. The scene was set for a great game and as Hilllingdon were now just one place above Street in the league table it was always going to be a hard fought match.
From the first whistle it was tense with both teams putting in some hard hits but Street were first to get points on the board with a penalty from the boot of Tom Winter which was to be consistent all afternoon. Soon after came the first try of the day from Richie Jermyn which Tom duly converted taking the score to 10-0. Shortly before half time Hillingdon kicked a penalty and with points on the board seemed reinvigorated. However Streets defence remained strong with everyman putting his body on the line to keep the visitors out and the first half finished with no further score but it still felt too close for comfort. 10-3.
Some calm words from the coaching team and captain kept everyone focussed and Street came out even stronger in the second half and it wasn't long before they broke the defence and David Potterton crashed over the line for the second of the day.17-3
Now with this cushion, confidence grew, backs and forwards linked support play seamlessly creating well worked moves and all passes going to hand. The effort put in at training over the past few months was paying off and Street went on to run in great tries from Geoffroy, Ollie Smalley and Tom Winter all of which Tom converted along with a further penalty to close out the game and finish worthy winners. 41-3
This display of running rugby was greatly appreciated by the crowd of spectators who had come along to be part of the clubs great day. Their support really making a difference to the players clearly helping to lift their performance which was quite outstanding .
Commiserations go to Hillingdon Abbots who fought valiantly but it was not their day.
The presentations were made by Brian East the Middlesex County President and Andrew Smart the Competitions organiser , Old Streetonians would like to thank them , the County , Hillingdon Abbots and David Rolfe with his team of Officials for a wonderful day.
