MATCH REPORT - UNDER 12s

Team: Will, Joe, Jake, Monty, Freddie, Ellis, Ethan, Harry, Ethan, Max

We welcomed a Bancroft side fresh from playing tournament rugby at Rosslyn Park the previous week, so we needed to be on our game. Ongar could not have got off to a worse start by conceding a try from the first phase of play, a couple of missed tackles contributing to the Bancroft try. That said Ongar did not miss another tackle for the remainder of that half, and with excellent break down work ensuring lots of turnover ball went into half time with a 2-1 lead. The second half of play was even more impressive, showing good kicking for Max & Ethan, solid scrummaging well marshalled by Monty, & some great attacking runs from Harry, who for the second week was very unlucky not to get amongst the tries. The ruck & maul was exceptional, with Freddie, Jake, Joseph & captain Will in exceptional form. Ongar ran out 7- 1 winners with Ellis 4 & Joe 3, but again the coaches want to empathise the exceptional teamwork.
