Ratoath Vs Athboy

Last Sunday a ghost was laid to rest! We returned to Athboy with a little trepidation having suffered there in previous games, but this time the signs were more auspicious. For a start the sun was shining, the sky was blue and in true Leinster fashion we turned on the champagne rugby.

The first try was scored almost before the note from the referee's whistle had faded on the breeze. More tries quickly followed. It seemed to be all downhill for our players. Athboy fought back bravely but we were like a horse who had the bit between its teeth. We were going to take some stopping.

Much credit has to go to the extra coaching from the midweek sessions. Players were linking and off loading in a way that was a pleasure to watch. Voices could be heard calling their support to the ball carrying player and the scrum became a weapon of mass destruction. So much so that the referee could be heard yelling 'STOP PUSHING!' on several occasions ( remember...You are only allowed advance 1 step in the scrum lads)

There were so many good performances that it would be unfair to single anyone out. Everyone did a good job on Sunday.

Of course, it wasn't perfect and there are a few areas we need to improve a lot on but a big step in the right direction... A day where all the hard work put in by the players paid off and the team really clicked. Well done to all concerned!

Keep up the training, take it seriously and try to get to the midweek sessions. Please don't turn up late for training as it wastes everyones time as well as your own. Rugby is a game where the more you put into it the more rewards you will get.
