Selkirk Youth Club 1921-1996
(Poem from 75th Anniversary Brochure)

We'd stand there in a huddle, the captain gave the talk
Oor herts wid then start thumpin' as we ran oot tae the Haugh

An ambition frae the ageo' ten, an honour it wid be,
Tae pull those yellow socks on - that green shirt ower me,

The Thistle, Colts or Wands, wid come, they'd laugh at oor Pavilion,
Snigger at oor changin rooms and gie us their opinion,

But we'd just gang and tak the field, next tae the Ettrick gliding,
Upon that sacred pitch o' oors, we'd gie them sic a hiding.

And when the games were ower, in the clubrooms we wid rest,
Win, lose, or draw, we knew we'd tried oor bloody best.

So take heid lads and listen, Selkirk Youth Club is the name,
Play wi pride and passion - let rugby be yer fame.
