A rolling list of required volunteers for the new season. Please read and consider helping out.

The season is fast approaching and we are again putting out an urgent appeal for volunteers to help in a number of areas.

Following the announcement by Paul Hayes that he will be stepping down as Chair of St Austell RFC during 2017-18, the search is now on to find his successor. If you would be interested in taking on this privileged position then please contact a member of the Executive Committee to find out more.

The Senior Section needs additional help in a number of areas to support the playing of rugby and take the strain off some of the volunteers already involved by spreading the "load".

Saints and Sinners Team Managers

Both the Saints and Sinners are looking for Team Managers, these are crucial roles providing support for the Coaches and the players and would really suit someone keen to relive their playing days. The commitment is most Saturdays and a minimum of an evening a week and the tasks include:

  • Managing the registrations, membership and availability of players;
  • Co-ordinating match day schedules including away travel arrangements;
  • Co-ordinating match day kit, warm-up equipment and balls etc.
  • Phoning in results to the SW RFU and CRFU as required
  • Providing match report to Sunday Independent, Cornish Guardian and St Austell Voice (Saints Only)

Match Day Support

For those who are only available occasionally but would still like to contribute fear not! Why not join a rota of Match Day helpers and provide support when you can? Every little contribution makes a big difference and tasks include:

  • Putting out flags
  • Running the line
  • Helping behind the bar at peak times (training will be given)
  • Providing support or cover to the Team Managers
  • Compiling the match report for the Website and Local Press

Grounds and Maintenance

For those who find themselves at a loose end during the week why not see if you can help with:

  • Pitch maintenance under the supervision of our Groundsman
  • General maintenance under supervision and direction of the Club Manager

Supporters Club

The Supporters Club has made a big contribution to St Austell RFC and you can find out more about this merry band by following this link. They are big part of the Tregorrick match day experience helping with things like:

  • Hosting the opposition
  • Staffing the gate
  • Prematch lunches
  • Supporting sponsorship events
  • Helping with the fundraising activities (such as the 50:50 draw)

If you would like to join the Supporters Club and be part of the Massive then please contact Bill Wagstaff (Chairman) on st_austellrfc@outlook.com . A great way to get involved and have some fun along the way!

Youth Section

  • Under 6's (minis) - Coaches and TM (Exciting new venture brought about by regulation changes by the RFU)
  • Team Manager - Under 7's - Follow this LINK to read about a current Team Manager at the club.
  • Team Manager - Under 9's
  • Safeguarding Officers - U7's, U8's and U9's (No previous experience necessary)
  • Youth Entertainment Sub-Committee - 3-5 individuals to form a sub-committee with the brief to initially organise one event. This will be a Christmas function for the younger age groups. One event and after that they can take stock and decide whether to continue with future events.

Don't hesitate, step forward to support your Club and let's make the few become the many! Contact us at st_austellrfc@outlook.com if you are interested in any of the above, have an idea where you could help out or if you have any questions or queries.
