1st XV v CHELTENHAM 2nd XV v WINSCOBE 2nd XV

Stothert & Pitt 3pts. Cheltenham 31pts

An injury ravaged Stotherts side never seriously threatened an efficient and patient Cheltenham outfit who went through the phases and performed all the basics well to ease to a bonus point win.
Following a 10m catch & drive the ball was spun to Chris Whitfield to open the scoring and although Stotherts showed great resolve in defence a sin binning on 30 minutes did not help their cause and Cheltenham took advantage with two quick tries through Zac Atallah and Ryan Hill with Atallah converting both. Stand in captain Dan Smith got Stotherts on the board with a smart drop goal just before the interval but the second half saw Cheltenham score immediately from turn over ball with a converted try for Joe Hustayne.
Mid way through this half though, the game had to be moved onto the adjacent pitch as Cheltenham's Ryan Hill sustained a compound leg fracture.
With the game lost, Stotherts never gave up and a strong run from Smith, well supported by Jon Parks, was just held up on the visitors line but Cheltenham finished strongly with Rich Beeney crossing the line at the end.
Praise must go to the physio's of both teams that attended the injured player and all at S&P RFC wish Ryan a speedy and full recovery.

Winscombe 2nds 17pts. Stotherts 2nds 5pts

These two teams were relatively evenly matched in the forwards, but Winscombe's lively backs had the edge by virtue of taking the chances they created.
With the score tied at 5-5 at the interval, Stotherts had periods of second half pressure but found no way through and Winscombe got home with two converted tries.
