Thirsk ladies traveled south to face top of division Boston Spa.

Boston Spa have been invincible so far this season, and they fielded a much more mature team than Thirsk and on paper Thirsk were very much the under dogs. Once underway it became quickly apparent why they have been invisible. A well drilled team showed their dominance with a spectacular drag flick short corner in the first 10 minutes. Thirsk girls did not let this deter them. They had worked out their game plan. Boston pressed with real conviction but Thirsk matched this. Both keepers were put under pressure with Marianne Morrice in the Thirsk goal playing out of her skin. Great team work led to a break from Captain Spanner which then allowed Kathryn Barrett the opportunity to equalise for Thirsk. The pressure was on and the game intensified Thirsk were being taken through their paces but they dug deep responding to whatever Boston threw at them. As half time approached Thirsk felt the pressure and Boston capitalised on this with a scrambled goal despite some incredible defensive play.
Trevor's half time talk definitely re energised Thirsk. From the whistle their mind set was positive and they played great team hockey. Well as much as Boston would allow them! The 3D element on the game was a real high point and made it a great game to watch. Olivia Smerden snuck in a lovely cheeky goal following some visionary stickwork from Thirsk.
Equalising again the opposition switched into over drive keeping possession well and truly in their half. With 15 minutes to go Boston scored but the goal was disallowed. The opposition were being tested by the young tireless Thirsk team. What followed next was a string of short corners for Boston Spa! Marian gave a faultless display of her goal keeping ability ( for which she was rightly awarded man of the match ) and some spectacjular defending. Thirsk battled on clearing wherever possible and saw the final whistle blow on a very well deserved draw. Easily their best performance so far this season.
