Junior Section 1 of 3

1. Junior Hockey

About the junior hockey section

The junior section of Thirsk Hockey Club welcomes all children from around 5 to 16 years old. Our aim is to develop lifelong hockey players by prioritising the enjoyment and development of junior athletes as both people and players. With around 250 junior members, we are dedicated to offering the best coaching and playing opportunities for all.

We provide competitive opportunities for all age groups and abilities playing in inter-club leagues, regional and national competitions, depending on individuals’ development and needs.

Many of our juniors, from the age of 13, go on to play adult hockey. Both men’s and women’s current squads have junior members who have come up through the ranks.

Our junior members benefit from the expertise of England Hockey qualified coaches and successful adult players. We also have a combination of committed hockey-playing parents, adult club members and young leaders, who volunteer their time to support the lead coach at training.

We are also incredibly lucky to have pro-active parents who volunteer in running the junior section, age groups, manage and umpire the teams. Without this help, we couldn't support the development of the players and the club.

All our coaches and age-group coordinators have completed DBS checks and safeguarding training.

We always need volunteers as the juniors move through the age groups, so if you can help in any way please contact thirskhc.juniors@gmail.com
