First half control gives Thirsk the lead.
Thirsk 2nds travelled to Mirfield to play Canalside Terriers 1sts this week. The side was made up of a number of under 16 players with just a couple of experienced older heads. However Thirsk started very brightly and took the lead after a shot from Holly was touched in by Lynne. Thirsk continued to dominate against Canalside and scored another goal when Lucy was through against the keeper and slotted the ball home, The opposition now realised they were not in for an easy game and tried to get more physical but the young Thirsk team were not intimidated. Thirsk continued to push forward and scored a third goal from a rehearsed short corner routine with Lynne sweeping in Holly's pass at the left post. This left the score at 3-0 to Thirsk at half time
The second half saw Thirsk come up against more pressure from Canalside but player of the match Molly was not deterred and made some glorious runs down the right hand side creating numerous changes which Thirsk could not quite manage to capitalise on. Canalside were then fortunate to pull a goal back after a kick in the D which was missed by the umpire. Thirsk continued to pass the ball well through midfield but Canalside pulled another goal back from a short corner which now put pressure on Thirsk with five minutes remaining. Thirsk held firm however to secure a 3-2 win. Big thanks to coach on the day Dave Brereton for all of his help.
