Is the weather a factor?

A weekend of two halves for the team started with a trip to Cleckheaton on Saturday morning. Following a strong win in our last meeting, hopes were high for a repeat performance and early signs were good. The team played some beautiful hockey and were technically by far the better team on the day but suffered the dual curse of not being able to get it in the goal at one end and failing to keep it out of the goal at the other. The match ended with a very disappointing 2-0 loss.

On Sunday we played hosts to Leeds, a long awaited fixture that had been rescheduled three times so we had yet to meet them in the season. They were top end of the table so we know it would be a challenge but with some spring sunshine to warm us we were up for it. Once again the team played some superb hockey. The defence managed to restrain some very tricky players, the midfield played beautifully together with well worked passes and the forwards had their tenacity rewarded with goals. A hard but hugely enjoyable game ended with a 3-2 win.
