After 4 yrs of asking England Hockey we managed to net a visit from England forward Ellie Watton on the evening of 18th October.
Ellie attended a joint 2 hour junior girls training to observe and give the girls tips. Also she gave an insight into her battle to become part of the England setup, which she came into " late" at the age of 23, hence telling the girls to never to give up on their dreams.
Ellie did a Q&A, which got off to a slow start, but the girls soon opened.
After Ellie's 1st trip to Thirsk she went away bearing typical Yorkshire gifts, ie a flat cap, some Yorkshire tea,a bottle of Black Sheep Ale and some black pudding ( hope we havn't scared her off).

The evening was rounded off by a hockey obstacle course against the clock, which Ellie won but couldn't score.
An evening the girls and the coaches won't forget in a hurry.
