Inside the camp with team captain Alex Chatterton

It's been a couple of weeks since my last edition due to away games/free weeks, so it's good to be back at The Cross for Round 7 this weekend.

It's been a funny couple of weeks. Since going 5 from 5 with an impressive performance against Hull Dockers, we had a free week and, due to our performances on the field, Knighty and GK gave us the week off. I think in hindsight it was definitely the right thing to do as there were some battered bodies, but we responded poorly in the game against Featherstone. On a personal note I'm massively disappointed as my form has been nowhere near where it needs to be in both attack and defence.

We always know going over there is a tough ask so to play pretty mediocre and still get the result is a testament to the quality throughout the squad. That being said, there was still some stand out performances, most notably from Sam Rochford who bagged an awesome hattrick and Gilly Rogers who killed it throughout. I don't think it was complacency, but it's definitely a lesson learned that regardless of league positions, we can get burnt eventually if we're not at the top of our game.

The most disappointing from our side, was that we'd set some targets for completion/penalties for the next five games, and didn't get to either, something we're looking to put right today and show GK & Knighty a response.

Following the Featherstone game, we had another free week due to the cup but decided to train on the Wednesday and I think the reaction was amazing. Definitely up there with the best sessions of the year.

We know we'll have to be on the top of our game to get through this weekend and definitely owe it to Normy, who were one of only two teams last year to do the double on us. They have a big middle which suits our pitch but I'm confident with the pack we have today, we can definitely match them.

7 from 7 is obviously the target as I keep going on about each week, and this will certainly be the toughest test yet. We also have the added incentive of a free trip to the dogs post-game, so we don't want to put a dampener on the day.
