A round up of the weekend's action......

The 1st XV returned to league action after a week off and welcomed the visit of Ely RFC, who were looking to continue there good run after beating Wanstead in the previous league fixtures.

The host played up the slope first half and following some good phases of play made some good breaks but were unable to capitalise. Ely continued to play direct rugby with some strong running by there large forwards and worked the overlap to score the first try of the afternoon. It wasn't long before the visitors scored there second try of the game following some missed tackles by the Upminster backline. Ely went on to secured the try scoring bonus point before half time before Upminster scored a try before the stroke of half time through No.8 George Cox.

The second half started brightly with Upminster scoring straight from the restart to give the hosts some hope. Unfortunately, the hosts never found there rhythm and despite creating chances were unable to finish and credit must go to the better side on the day who scored a further two tries before the final whistle. The final score was 34-10 to Ely RFC.

Disappointing for the 1st XV to lose there unbeaten record & credit must go to Ely for there performance. The 1st XV travel to Southwold next week looking to get back to winning ways.

The 2nd XV travelled to Woodford in the Merit League and ran out 32-14 winners following on from there performance away at Basildon the previous week in the 2nd XV Essex Cup. The 2nd XV play host to Barking 2's next week in the league.

The 3rd XV played host to Maldon 2nd XV and despite a much improved performance lost 52-17. The 3rd XV travel to Ilford Wanderers next week in the league, searching for there first win of the season.

Sunday saw the Youth and Mini teams in action.

The U16's hosted Westcliff in the league and despite suffering a 76-17 defeat played some good rugby and continued to play till the final whistle. Credit must go to every U16 Upminster player for there performance and effort.

The U15's travelled to Chelmsford in the Cup and ran out winners - 24-0.

The 14's played host to Thurrock in a friendly fixture and a highly competitive and entertaining game saw Thurrock ran out 12-10 winners.

The mini section were in action at Harlow RFC and some great rugby was played throughout the age groups with some good signs of development.

A huge thank you must go to Harlow RFC who were very sporting and welcoming to all age groups throughout.
