Match Preview: Denbigh v Ruthin Boxing Day 26 Dec 1pm ko

By Stephen Whitfield

Derby day is here tomorrow!

Happy Christmas folks and hope you have had a great day thus far but if you need a bit of fresh air tomorrow there is no better place to go than Denbigh Town FC's Central Park for the eagerly awaited Boxing Day Huws Gray Alliance derby game Denbigh Town v Ruthin Town.

The last two boxing day derby matches have been at Ruthin but now it is Denbigh's turn to put on the fixture and we are hoping for a big crowd and a great atmosphere.

The weather is looking good, the cafe will be selling food and drinks, the covered stand has nearly five hundred seats and our new club house is open with the new licensed bar so why not come down and watch what is bound to be a greatly contested encounter between us and and our neighbours from just a few miles down the Vale.

What of the game ? Since returning to the Huws Gray Alliance Ruthin have had the better between the two teams. They did the double over Denbigh last season and have already beaten us at Ruthin's Memorial fields back in August at the beginning of this season so we are keen to do well for the fans as well as desperately needing the points.

Matty Jones spoke of the team available for tomorrow

"Having played, and lost, to Ruthin already this season back in August, we are fully aware of what to expect from them. An extreme resolute side who are clinical in front of goal, we will have to be at our best to ensure we get the win today. Dewi and I have both worked with a number of the Ruthin players in the last so are aware of the strengths within the squad. However, we fully believe in the strength and quality of players we have here at the club. In relation to the squad, we will welcome back Miles Todd from a one game suspension, and have also received clearance for Chandon Gioacchini who is available for selection having signed from Edgerton early this month. "

Dewi Llion said

""It was a good crowd last year and we were poor.I don't think we had a shot on target but it's a totally different team we have got this year. I think we have got enough experience and enough leaders in that team who know the importance of this game."

REMEMBER IT IS A 1PM KICK OFF AND WE URGE PEOPLE TO ARRIVE EARLY. IF YOU ARE TRAVELLING TO DENBIGH THERE WILL BE CAR PARKING IN THE AREA BUT IT MAY BE ADVISABLE TO PARK AT THE BOTTOM OF TOWN AND WALK TO THE GROUND VIA THE PATH AT THE BACK OF THE RAILWAY PUBLIC HOUSE.

Special thanks to PROMPT TRAVEL who are sponsoring the fixture. They have 4, 8 and 16 seater vehicles for taxi, nights out and airport transfers etc. tel no 01824790485

We will leave Matty to have the last word -

"We hope you have an enjoyable afternoon here at Central Park, and with this being the last home game of 2018, the management and playing staff would like to wish you all a Happy New Year."

C'mon Denbigh you can do it !!!!!!
