Nostell Match Preview

Preview ahead of Saturdays home game V Nostell Miners Welfare

Good afternoon and welcome to the Jones and Co Recreational ground for the visit of Nostell Miners Welfare, a crucial game at both ends of the Table.
The Colliery find themselves unbeaten in the last two games, we haven’t been able to say that very often with a last minute winner over Selby Town from Ainsley Finney and then last week a hard fought 2-2 draw with Worsborough.
Nostell also arrive on the back off two great results, both 1-0 wins against Hallam and Rossington Main respectively, a last gasp winner too last week which if your going to win a game every one will tell you there is no better way.
Nostell will certainly be a hard nut to crack as they have kept the most clean sheets in the league with 10 which playing 22 games is a great record, they also have the second meanest defence overall with 24 in 22 games, when you consider 10 of those goals came in 3 games that’s a defence George Graham would be proud of.
Nostell also have plenty to offer up top with Jack Owen top scorer on 13 and Daniel Critchlow on 12.
Two of those 12 goals for Critchlow came in the reverse fixture at the beginning of the season when the teams met on the 8th of August a game where we certainly had our chances but as with large parts of the season we just haven’t taken them when they have come along, the game finished 2-0 to Nostell but our team is now very much a different one.
That night in August of the starting X1 only three of the players are still with us and there’s certainly a better sense of togetherness with this group so we will see what Saturday afternoon brings, one thing we will be hoping for is another good following, with 10 of our remaining 15 games at the Jones and Co our home form is going to be key and other than Grimsby Borough where we shipped in 7 we have competed in every game, please keep the good support going and the lads will be doing there all to repay it.
Nostell we hope you enjoy your visit but head off back down the A1 ultimately empty handed.
