MDTFC Share The Points With Prescot Cables In 8 Goals Thriller

A Late Equaliser From Charles 'The Goals' Knowles Secures The Point

MDTFC went into this game on the back of a run of poor results and facing promotion chasing Prescot Cables.

MDTFC started brightly with Desean Martin playing a more forward role and Lyndon Campbell taking up a deeper midfield role.

On 4 minutes the Cables's goalkeeper produced a good save to stop a pile driver from Desean.

On 7 minutes the game changed when Jack Lenehan scored for Cables with a powerful drive from outside the penalty area - which gave Mason Springthorpe no chance whatsoever to save.

Desean Martin was causing some problems to the Cables with his powerful running, and on 13 minutes Desean broke clear of the defenders, but with only the keeper to beat, his shot went just wide of the left hand post - a narrow escape for the Cables.

Prescot Cables were applying the pressure and on 19 minutes a shot cannoned off the right hand post with Mason well beaten.

On 26 minutes the game repeated itself when Desean broke clear of the Cables defence - this time Desean made no mistake and confidently scored the equaliser for MDTFC (1-1)

On 34 minutes Matty Ballard broke well clear of the Cables defence with only the keeper to beat; unfortunately Matty in trying to pick his spot drove the ball just wide of the post.

On 38 minutes the injured Simon Gregory was replaced by Harri Lovett.

40 minutes saw Drayton take the lead courtesy of an own goal from Prescot Cables (MDTFC 2 Cables 1).

Unfortunately this lead was short lived when James Edgar scored Cables's second goal on 44 minutes. (2-2)

On the stroke of half time Cables were awarded a hotly disputed penalty - Michael Monaghan converted the penalty for Cables.

Half Time: MDTFC 2 Prescot Cables 3

At the start of the second half Harvey Howell replaced the injured Lyndon Campbell.

MDTFC were providing some powerful forward play; which was rewarded on 55 minutes with a finely executed goal from Charlie Knowles.

MDTFC 3 Prescot Cables 3

Prescot Cables regained the lead on 65 minutes via Michael Monaghan - following Drayton's failure to clear the ball efficiently.

During this period of the game there were a number of 'handbags' on display by both teams.

Will Wells had replaced Ryan McClean.

On 89 minutes, with the game slipping away, MDTFC were awarded a free kick - this was taken by Will Wells, whose shot was blasted against the Cables's defensive wall. Will fought to retrieve the situation and his determination in regaining the ball saw the ball being fed to Charlie 'The Goals' Knowles who calmly slotted the ball home to equalise.

MDTFC then spent a nervous 5 minutes of extra time before the referee blew the final whistle.

Although we conceded 4 goals there were plenty of positives to be taken from this game against a very good and powerful Prescot Cables team.

If only those two golden opportunities in the first half had been converted?
