Division 1 Champions!

To say that the ladies 3’s have mastered the art of the second-half would be an understatement. Although we were playing bottom of the league Reading Rebels they were not going to let us win easily. The game remained goalless until a super substitution about 10 minutes into the match. Kirsty came onto the pitch and with her first three touches, let’s make that volleys, she scored a superb goal. The 1-0 scoreline remained for the rest of
the first half. Anxiety levels amongst the Marlow 3’s rose and that showed in our play.
So off we went for a half-time talk. We discussed many of the same things that we discuss every half-time. As usual it worked a treat. The second half saw Marlow playing THEIR hockey. They passed around the opposition players beautifully and saw three more goals scored. There could’ve more. The first goal resulted from some silky stick skills in front of goal by Millie T. She tucked the ball away with her reverse stick. The next goal to come was as a result of some wonderful team play. Helen passed to Jenny Jenny ran the ball up to the 25 yard line. She passed to Tracy who slipped the ball across to Bev. Bev slammed the ball into the goal for a 3-0 scoreline. Our final goal was scored by Kirsty who slotted it away after some great passing hockey in the D, starting with Tilly. As Marlow ran back to the halfway line, celebrating, the final whistle blew. A fantastic win. A great scoreline. And promotion to the next league. What a great season ladies!
