Title chasing Shaw Lane offered little in the first half with the two best chances falling to the visitors striker Mitch Piggon.
In the 12th minute first Piggon was put through from midfield and keeper Jon Stewart saved the low shot with his legs.
On the half hour, Piggon’s near post overhead kick was clasped by Stewart.
Four minutes into the second half the league leaders took the lead against the run of play when Kieron Lugsden nipped in and diverted the ball past Curtis Pond.
Chasetown thought they had a penalty when a Shaw Lane defender appeared to scoop the ball away with his right hand from a long throw in.
To make matters worse, the hosts were awarded a controversial penalty for an apparent raised foot but Gavin Allott’s spot kick was superbly saved by Pond.
Shaw Lane doubled their lead in the final minute with a ball over the top that Alex Byrne smashed past Pond from long range.
