The game started badly as from the kick off BB drove down the slope and were forced into touch 5m out, centre John Lowden to wing Ally Thorpe in the dead ball area, Thorpes clearance was charged down for an easy converted try and Southam were 7 points down in less than a minute. Southam struggled in the scrums and and 14 minutes in BB used their superiority to get down to the Southam line and from the
scrum, drove Southam back and were awarded a penalty try when scrum half Lewis Dodds came offside. Late arrival Matt Catterall came on at prop and bolstered up the scrum, but even so BB got another pushover after 27 minutes, when hooker Sam Deeming, dived on a ball that looked out of the ruck, the referee said not and Deming was yellow carded for mouth, BB took the penalty and as scrum and pushed over.
BB finished the half with another converted try from a lineout on Southam 22, driving through off the back for the converted try.

In the second half Southam used the slope and made numerous forays into the BB half, but solid BB defence and mistakes saw them lose possesion and have to rebuild. 17 minutes in, a succession of penalties got Southam a lineout in the BB 22, from the lineout Southam drove into the centre, recycled the ball across the backs and found Grindal wide out 7m from the line, he broke the tackle and went over for the try. Southam had a couple of deep breaks from wings Will Wood and Thorpe, but could not capitalise on them and the solid BB defence shut Southam out.
