The first chance of the game didn’t come until the 20th minute as John King met a cross but his shot was easily saved by the Kempston keeper. In an uneventful first half the next chance fell to the Daniels on the 30th minute as a free-kick fell to Jon Challinor at the back post but his shot was blocked. The final chance of the half came to Joe Burgess but his long range effort went well over the bar.
Five minutes after the break Jake Duffy was played in on goal but his shot went wide of the far post. Two minutes later Kempston had their first chance of the game but their number 14 shot straight at Dan Haystead in goal for the visitors. A minute later their number 8 fired a long range shot well over the bar.
Four minutes after these Kempston chances Stamford nearly took the lead as John King crossed to Joe Burgess but his header went wide. Stamford did, however, take the lead on the 65th minute as Ben George was in on goal and shot. This found the back of the net despite the keeper getting a strong hand to it. Five minutes later the lead was doubled as Eliot Putman played a great ball in behind the Kempston defence for Jon Challinor, playing up-front, to run on to and he finished expertly into the top corner.
Five minutes later Challinor was shooting again but this time it was a tame shot from range that didn’t trouble the keeper. Ten minutes from time Eliot Putman’s cross ended up uncomfortably close to the goal for the Kempston keeper and his tipped save led to a corner for the visitors. From this corner Ben George volleyed over. Two minutes from time Kempston had their first chance that troubled Dan in goal for the Daniels as former player Jake Newman controlled a high ball before volleying on the turn forcing a good save.
