Beccehamians win high scoring game against Old Dunstonians

The opening exchanges were even but eventually Beccehamians made a break and Harry Ivings on his league debut scored a try which Alex Warsop converted to make it 0-7.
Old Dunstonians immediately went on the attack and Rory Palmer scored a try which Michael Ubee converted to make it 7-7.
Beccehamians set up a series of attacks and Dave Watkins ran through from 4 metres out to score a try which Alex converted to make it 7-14.
Beccehamains were on top for the next 10 minutes and managed to score two more tries. For the first Callum Buckler picked up the ball just outside OD’s 22 and ran through to score a try converted by Alex 7-21.
A couple of minutes later Callum Buckler finished off a fine move and scored near the posts to leave Alex an easy conversion 7-28.
Old Dunstonians came back at us and set up a series of attacks in our 22. Beccs managed to turn over the ball and burst out of our 22.
When the ball was passed along our back line Callum Buckler was tackled by an Old Dunstonians player and they clashed heads which resulted in both players stretched out on the ground. After 5 minutes the decision was made to move the game to another pitch. By this time Callum was sitting up but the OD’s player was still laid out and it took the ambulance about an hour to get to him. All at Beccs wish him a speedy recovery.
When the game resumed Beccs set up a series of attacks but the OD’s defence held out until half time.
At the start of the second half OD’s came back and scored a good try through Nick Keppe which Michel Ubee converted to make it 14-28.
Beccs managed to get some possession in the Od’s half and Ryan Souter burst through to score a try which Alex converted 14-35.
OD’s were not finished and began to dominate possession and territory. OD’s wing Jamal managed to get outside our defence and scored a try which was converted by Michael Ubee.
Within a few minutes OD’s broke from a scrum and Jamal weaved his way over for another try converted by Michael Ubee 28-35.
OD’s threw the ball long at a lineout just in their half and Sol Usher picked up the loose ball and fed prop Harry Copley who sprinted 30 metres to scored try which Alex again converted 28-42.
There was still plenty of time left and OD’s were in the ascendancy but the Beccs defence held firm. Eventually Pete Jeffries scored a try for OD’s which Michael Ubee converted 35-42.
Beccs managed to hold out for the remaining few minutes.
Good news Callum Buckler was back in the clubhouse in the evening.
