The majority of the first half was quiet but it was the hosts who shaded what little action there was, deservedly taking the lead in the final seconds of the first half when Francino Francis powered home a header for his first goal for Chasetown from a Simon Brown cross.
Ashley Grayson got his first goal for the club to make it 2-0, also with a header, on the hour mark before Nick Turton drilled home a low shot to put the Scholars 3-0 clear in the 77th minute.
Within a minute of the 3-goal cushion though, Jack Portman punished some sloppy defending to pull a goal back for the visitors and give the home side something to think about.
Theo Robinson could have restored the three goal lead but he hit the crossbar from close range, before Goole's skipper David Taylor reduced the arrears again in the 86th minute from a free kick.
The Scholars held on though to record their eight league win out of twelve under Marcus Law's management.
Chasetown: Bateman, Grayson, Beckett, Slater, Francis, S Brown, Griffiths (Robinson, 67 mins), Turton (Antonio, 81 mins), Waite (Teesdale, 73 mins), Davies, Edwards

• At the full time whistle, a presentation committee gave Chris Slater several items including a Chasetown FC shirt saying “Slater 500”. The club also recognised Chris’s family, without whose support he would not have been able to play 500 games!
