Another Point on the Board

By

Gorleston twice came from behind to gain a point.

There were five changes from the line up that lost narrowly at Stowmarket with no Charlie Hitch, Ismael Fatadjo, Elliott Hannant or Joel Watts. Also missing was Connor Deeks, who has swapped Emerald Park for Trafford Park.

In came Harley Clements, Isaac Burrage, Daniel Foreman, Luke Goreham and Jason Thompson

The Greens began brightly with a couple of early chances but fell behind to Walsham's first real chance of the game in the ninth minute from a Gorleston throw in with Jack Brame seizing on the ball and keeping his composure to slot it in.

Gorleston were level three minutes later.

The hosts half cleared the ball from their box. As it fell, Mitch McKay attempted a first time volley but miscued so it actually turned into a nice bit of control. He steadied himself before powering a low drive from twenty yards into the net.

The Greens continued to have the better of the possession although Taurean Molloy was the only keeper forced into a save, but neither caused him any trouble.

Connor Ingram almost weaved his way through before Molloy picked up a header from Walsham's first corner after 38 minutes.

Ingram got in behind again on 44 minutes, knocked the ball around the keeper but the pair then collided together and the chance was gone.

Peter Lambert then almost turned in a cross from close range.

Gorleston were very slow to get going in the second half.

Ryan Twinn got past two defenders easily before shooting wide. Then a nice Willows move after 57 minutes ended with Tom Debenham shooting into the side netting before Gorleston finally started to get the ball down and play some of the passing football they are capable of with Kyle Ingram sensational on the ball.

But only one noteworthy chance was created, which fell to Lambert but he couldn't keep it down.

One interested spectator was incoming boss Stewart Larter, who must have been quite impressed with some of the football he saw played at times by his new charges.

However, it was Walsham who regained the lead in the 78th minute.

Brame was too strong for the Gorleston defenders as he rode some challenges and knocked the ball in past the advancing Molloy.

Once again, though, Gorleston pegged them back four minutes later.

A Connor Ingram corner was cleared to Luke Goreham on the edge of the box. He hit a shot which was charged down. The ball was crossed back deep into the Walsham area where Connor Ingram played it back inside first time to Peter Lambert who managed to lift it over the keeper from close range into the net.

The hosts had the better of the closing stages with some shots going wide and Molloy saving well from Sam Peters a minute into injury time.
