Whatever went on at half-time? As the players went off at the interval, with Harrow more than a degree fortunate not to be behind, the home faithful awaited the second period with a degree of trepidation. But what followed was the best 45 minutes

of Harrow football seen this season, as they put their north London opponents to the sword.

Referee Mr Johnson had checked that both managers were happy for the game to go ahead on a very wet surface, but his decision was the correct one: despite all the rain the ball ran true all afternoon. Wright in the visiting goal was in early action, bravely punching clear Charles Banya’s cross from the challenging Ryan Moss. At the other end, Parcell’s cross deflected off Shaun Preddie, Melvin Minter reacting well to save. The Borough keeper then held Youngs’s free-kick and a dangerous cross by Blackman. Banya’s cross just eluded the incoming Moss.

Harrow suffered a blow when Lewis Cole limped off, but for the second game running Mark McLeod came off the bench to perform really well. Adam Richards, making his first home start since his return to fitness, made a good clearance after Wadkins made a clever flick across goal, and then got in the way of Youngs’s shot on the turn. The visitors were getting the upper hand and a long throw led to Blake’s shot deflected wide by Preddie. Moss drove over from a tight angle but again Enfield pressed and Adam Pepera made a fine clearance from Campbell’s cross, before helping out his keeper who had fumbled a Blake shot. McLeod made an acrobatic block from Wadkins’s shot, but the half ended with a Harrow break and Banya shooting over.

Three minutes of the second half had elapsed when Borough went in front. Michael Bryan won a free-kick on the left. Kurtis Cumberbatch spotted that Wright had left a gap at his near post and curled his delivery through it and past him from a tight angle.

Minter turned round Martin’s shot at the near post before Harrow scored a great counter-attacking goal to go two ahead after 55 minutes. George Moore brought the ball out of defence, slipping it left to Banya. He ran on into the box and centered to Cumberbatch, who feinted to his left and drove a low shot past Wright’s right hand.

And two minutes later, it was three. Banya’s corner was headed away, but Cumberbatch picked it up and threaded it through to Preddie. His first touch wasn’t perfect, but he was still able to get a toe to the ball and lift it over the advancing Wright.

Minter made a brave save at Wadkins’s feet, with Wright clawing away Cumberbatch’s cross under pressure from Moss. Proof, if any were needed, that it was to be Harrow’s afternoon came when Wadkins’s shot was cleared off the line by a prone Pepera. Martin blocked a drive from Moss but the Borough No.9 wasn’t to be denied. After 79 minutes Michael Bryan brought the ball forward. He found substitute Ahmed El-Sahib and his left-wing cross was finished at the far post by Moss.

Preddie shot over after a sumptuous Harrow move, and El-Sahib was denied by a fine tip over by Wright. The game was a minute into stoppage-time when Harrow added their fifth. Tarum Dawkins found Cumberbatch who brought the ball forward and found El-Sahib, again well placed on the left. He drew the ball back for Moss who had pulled back from his marker, and the mortuary manager hammered the final nail in the Enfield coffin.

A very happy Harrow squad have little time to rest: they go again on Wednesday night when Lowestoft Town are the visitors to The Rogers Family Stadium.
