Old Brodleians travelled to Abbeydale, with one remit - two points.

And they returned home having achieved that objective to increase their Yorkshire One promotion hopes.

Brods have three games left, at home to Selby and York and an away game at Skipton.

And with Selby having beating Bradford Salem it is Bridlington who are the nearest challengers.

Brods were dominant in most facets with fine individual performances across the pitch and it was down to their inability to control proceedings that prevented a larger scoreline.

The forward platform helped launch number 8 Luke Scrimshaw on numerous forays and his link work with Joe Baker were at the forefront of most raids into the Sheffield half.

Brods were guilty of forcing one too many passes, spurning opportunities at goal and generally poor contact skills in search of the perfect game.

Despite fine running from the solid back three of Marshall, Matt Hoyle and Fowler the Brods failed to turn the pressure into points and as a result it was still 0-0 after 30 minutes before Luke Scrimshaw powered over from outside the opposition '22, Oliver Akroyd converting.

Brods had their best spell immediately after the interval abd after only five minutes, Andy Clay was on hand to round off a superb passage of play involving backs and forwards, Akroyd missed the conversion but kicked a penalty soon after to make the score 15-0.

While the wind played havoc with his lineout throwing Ben Morrill was immense both offensively and defensively and is due to train with the Leeds Academy side this week

There was a chance the floodgates would open as Sheffield visibly tired but despite the tireless efforts of Ben Hoyle and strong defensive effort of Oliver Hawkins they failed to kick on and indeed and it was Sheffield who caught the visitors napping from a lineout to score from a well worked move.
