Meeting held Monday 6th June 2022

Items from the meeting held Monday 6th June 2022.

COMPLIANCE

The committee has undertaken a review of the membership classes and costs as follows:

  • Life Membership (Voting) £300
  • Full Membership (Voting) £60 per season
  • Social Membership (Non-voting) £20 per season
  • Concessional Membership# (Voting) £30 per season
  • Age Grade Membership (Non-voting) £30 per season
  • Family Membership* (Non-voting) £70 per season

# Concessional membership is for adults in full time education or members who volunteer such as coaches.
* Family membership is for 2 x age grade children and 2 x adult social memberships.
Adult players will purchase a Full Membership and additionally pay £5 playing subs each time that they play. Therefore, injured or infrequent players will not be disadvantaged.
The spousal membership has been scrapped as it represents very little income for the club.

The committee are looking into the possibility of completing match cards for all teams at the club. The benefits of doing so are that we would receive an increased allocation of International Tickets each year.

RUGBY

Gavin Munkley and Mike Dickons are working through contacts in order to secure a new head coach for next season. So far, we have not been able to find a suitable candidate but the search continues.

Preseason training starts on Tuesday 28th June.

The club is hoping to run a referees course at Talbot Park to supplement our small group of qualified referees. Further details will be circulated when available.

CLUB

Following comments received regarding the catering at the club, Joe Hornigold is working up options to improve and to bring all of it back in-house.

The new bar pricing has been implement following negotiations with Carlsberg. Additionally, Joe has been trailing some offers particularly for spirits and shots.

FINANCE & BUSINESS

Following the changes to pricing at the bar, our profitability has improved and when combined with an increase in functions the club has managed to break even after the removal of restrictions. With the proposed changes to catering, new membership structure and a more profitable bar, the club can look forward to a more stable financial position.

Gary Sullivan and Simon Duffy will be contacting our current sponsors to confirm their renewals and look to bring in further companies to sponsor various activities.
