A timely reminder of when AOE provided 4 players to the West Midlands Police side that won the British Cup 3 times

With the reappearance of Dave Fenton in Aston colours, it's worth remembering that between 2009 and 2012, West Midlands Police won the British Cup 3 times, with a strong AOE representation.

In 2009, they defeated Gwent Police 23-3 at Stourbridge, with Blake Bennett, Andy Wood, Sean Dunne and Dave Fenton all playing from Aston Old Edwardians

2 years later, they beat the Metropolitan Police 17-8 in the final, having defeated West Mercia Police in the semi-finals (with another AOE Ian Wall playing for the losing side). The AOE representatives for the victors were Blake Bennett (Captain), Francis Nock, Andy Wood, and Dave Fenton.

In 2012, the same 4 players were part of the victorious side that defeated the Police Service of Northern Ireland 15-6 in the final. Michael Tate was also due to play, but unfortunately broke his arm playing for Aston shortly before the final.

Both Sean Dunne and Francis Nock went on to gain International honours with British Police, and were followed into that side by another AOE, Marcus Harewood - who became a double International having also represented Barbados at both 7s and 15s.
