BRFC EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Edition 3 (20/03/26)
Clubhouse Extension
Work is close to completion on Phase 2A of the Big Build Project. The outstanding work (Fire Exit Door and handrail) is likely to be signed off by 21st March. Minor works, not affecting the opening of the veranda/roof terrace, include installing security cameras to cover three areas and applying anti-slip paint to the stairs. The total cost of Phase 2A is around £40k.
Members are invited to attend the grand opening of the veranda/roof terrace on Saturday 28th March. A buffet lunch will be available from 12.30pm onwards, mainly to soak up the copious amounts of ale, champagne and Pimms that, no doubt, will be consumed. At 3pm, the 1st XV will be taking on Cranbrook in the league. A large crowd is expected.
The Club will also be applying to host the Kent County RFU and England Rugby volunteer award ceremony scheduled for 11 th June 2026. We feel it would be a good opportunity to show case the newly built Clubhouse facilities.
Pitch Maintenance
Disappointingly, both the Council and idverde have been slow in responding to the Club’s desire to discuss the maintenance of the pitches. We are confident, however, that through the close season, our pitches will be suitably treated and be in tip top condition for the 2026-27 season.
In the Counting House
Our diligent Treasurer continues to report that the Club’s finances are in a healthy state. In terms of fund-raising, the three post-Christmas events (Mini Fest, Quiz Night and Ladies Night) all proved to be financially successful. Proceeds from the Bikeathon over the Six Nations campaign are still being assessed. Funds (£1k) from the Jack Petchey Foundation are now available so nominations are required. Membership fees have shown an increase on last year.
The Club has learnt that there is a grant available to Sports Clubs in the Bromley and Biggin Hill area to assist with low carbon energy improvements, covering items like solar panels, heat pumps and LED lighting. It was felt that there may be scope for the Club to apply for some of this money in order to enhance the floodlighting of the pitches.
Miscellaneous
The date of the Club’s Annual General Meeting has been scheduled for Thursday 25th June 2026. It is important that Club Members support this event as your vote counts!
