Beccs U14s 15 v Maidstone 29 (Sunday 24 Nov)

A competitive and evenly matched fixture, with Maidstone scoring 3 trys in the last 10 minutes to take the spoils.

The one that got away. Beccs should have wrapped this one up in the second half. Great teamwork trys with some real positive energy just before the half-time break. Really competitive fixture throughout, all the boys gave it their all, some constructive work required in defence and consistently aiming to back one another up and not got isolated which we can work on.

We did it towards the end of the first half, which paid dividends with some great team scores. Christian, George and Fin taking on significant carrying duties, backed up by their forward pack teammates clearing rucks and working hard for one another. Back line passed the ball well throughout the day, collectively positively communicating and getting the ball wide with some great carrying from Ellis, Ben, Lewis and Oliver.D. Encouraging to see that when we do pass the ball down the line, support one another and clear rucks, we score. Plenty of positives for Beccs, back to training next week, with two fixtures before Xmas.

Take nothing away from the visitors, they battled hard and were good value for the W. We look forward to the return fixture at Maidstone in March.

Huge thanks to resident ref Al McGill for again most fairly officiating in the middle. Man of the match to Lewis for some unsung hero work in defence, playing out of position in the centre and some excellent running. Great debut and most welcome to Seb in the second row.
