Belper 1st XV ran out the last game of the season away to Lincoln, and when the dust settled the lads had managed to secure the highest ever finishing position in the clubs history.

Absolutely nothing to do with the Lincoln result mind, as they got a good what-for unfortunately.

It was a big day for Lincoln with many fans gathered for further celebrations to mark the end of the season do, scheduled that evening. Early stages of the game were promising, and in an effort to avoid upset on Lincoln's big day the referee quickly demanded that the Belper players were to play the remainder of the game with their hands tied to their feet.

Despite this obvious disadvantage Belper marched on and managed to hobble in 2 Trys of their own before the break.

Unfortunately half time spelt more trouble for Belper. Agent Holmes was choppered out on confidential business, Steve Roberts was lead astray by an exceptional butterfly and Jack Smith, Sam Chalkin, Jake Holmes and Nathan Shipshape all succumbed to the 'mystery illness' they had been keeping at bay since departing Hackett's mere hours earlier.

With a limited bench (no bench) the remaining 9 players returned to the field, fired up by an inspirational beating from Coach Waddle.

With hope in their hearts and grit in their teeth the brave few marched out. Adding insult to injury, the Lincoln players were now on horseback. Belper, still tied toes and fingers, did their best to limit the damage but it was an uphill battle (due to the undulating topography of the area).

Final score Lincoln 26 - 6 Belper, in accordance with the new "final league fixture scores get divided by 3" law.
