Belper United made their first league game of the year with Steve Watson having to make 4 changes to the side that started back in the first week of January. Adam Taylor, Scott Clapperton, Dan Riley, Ben Summers, and Jamie Wilde all returned to the squad. Joe Sparham was missing with a knee injury, Josh Wisdom had work commitments and Luke Crosby has joined Step 5 side Heanor Town.
Boths sides started scrappily after the prolonged lay off and there was very little football of note to talk about.
After 15 minutes Blidworth broke free and went one and one with Adam Jablonski who managed to saved with his legs. Belper United retaliated with two chances of there own, Jordan McRobie volleying wide and a neat turn and shot by Scott Clapperton just clearing the crossbar. 25 minutes had gone and the Belper United was breached by the same simple ball as before and Adam Jablonski had to save excellently again.
The deadlock was broken on 36 minutes when a Blidworth corner was headed in far too easily by Harvey Lane.
Half time: Belper United 0-1 Blidworth Welfare.
Belper United changed the formation at half-time with the intention of trying to get back into the game. Jamie Wilde replaced Tom Curtis and went 4-3-3. The plans went horrible wrong after only 2 minutes when Jamie Wilde went into a challenge and came away with a dislocated ankle and broken fibula.
Jake Taylor replaced Jamie Wilde and Belper United continued with the formation and forced the Blidworth keeper into 2 excellent saves. Belper United had plenty of possession then without threatening to score and Blidworth were looking dangerous on the break.
On 85 minutes Blidworth sealed the victory after an excellent shot from Craig Gould found the corner of the net.
Belper United finally tried to rally the troops and had two late efforts scrambled of the line.
Full time: Belper United 0-2 Blidworth Welfare.

Manager Steve Watson says 'With not playing for so long the side looked very rusty and we put in a sub standard performance today. Blidworth showed more desire and fully deserved the 3 points. We will have to regroup at training on Tuesday and changes will be made and new players will be brought in to freshen up the squad. Belper United would also like to send their best wishes and hopes for a speedy recovery to club Stalwart Jamie Wilde'
