Comrades Confirm MP-Chaired Public Meeting To Save Broadwater

Comrades Confirm MP-Chaired Public Meeting To Save Broadwater

Phil Hobbs21 Jul 2021 - 07:27

Berkhamsted FC have arranged a public meeting to discuss the future of Broadwater at the Town Hall on 19 August, to be chaired by Gagan Mohindra MP.

Senior football has been played at the Lower Kings Road ground, now called Broadwater, for over a century and the club’s opposition to the possible relocation to Bourne End is well known around the town and in the local football community. An open public meeting where questions can be freely asked, with an independent chairman, is seen as a valuable means of assessing local opinion on the issue. However, the response to the recent online petition and via our High Street market stall, together with the unanimous support from the town council for the Asset of Community Value application, strongly suggests that it’s firmly on our side. We thank the Berkhamsted public for their overwhelming support to date and, also, Gagan Mohindra for agreeing to be involved in this meeting.

Directors of the football club will put forward the case for opposing the possible relocation and the Berkhamsted Sports Ground Charitable Association (BSGCA), who support the move, have been invited to attend to express their own views. See the flyer in the image for further information.

The meeting will start at 7.30pm.

In the meantime, our club members have a stall at Berkhamsted market this Saturday morning (24 July) and are happy to discuss the issue with members of the public, who are also able to add their names to the petition.
