Berko beaten by league leaders.

Walton & Hersham 2 Berkhamsted 0

Match report by Andrew Sparrow

The lace up boots & corduroys of the league leaders were too much for the Comrades on a chilly night at the Elmbridge Excel Sports Hub, with the Cockney Cowboys comfortable winners by two goals to nil.

The Polish Pele, Dawid Rogalski opened the scoring in the 18th minute, lashing home from close range after Berko failed to deal with a ball into the box. Billy Busari fired a chance into the side netting, James Gurteen volleyed over from a corner, and JJ Lacey had a good shout for a penalty waved away - but W&H looked composed and in control.

The second half went the same way - the home team relentless in attack, Berko defending with determination. John Page scored his first goal for W&H on 67 minutes, from a neat cut back from the right, and that was pretty much that. Michael Harding fired high and wide, JJ curled a free kick past the post, but in truth Berko didnt really threaten the meanest defence in the division.

Manager Devane felt his team had contained the opposition pretty well, and thanked the Berko supporters who'd made the journey. On to Saturday's home game against Poole who warmed up for their visit to the Glencar by sharing 10 (t-e-n) goals with bottom of the league Tiverton. Should be a cracker - see you there.
