Mighty in the Mud

Mighty in the Mud

Berko Ladies back to winning ways

A very wet, very muddy afternoon… and a very questionable choice of white trainers from the manager.

Berko started the brighter and more dominant of the two sides, carving out early chances but just failing to find the net. Against the run of play, Langford were gifted an opportunity, only for the crossbar to come to Berko’s rescue.

Berko answered immediately. Slick footwork from Nat Mac saw her dance through midfield before unselfishly laying the ball off for Bentall, who coolly slotted home to make it 1–0.

Momentum stayed with the visitors. Not long after, Hunyadi whipped in a cross, such a good one that it evaded everyone and nestled straight into the far corner.

At least the rain eased after half time, though the pitch didn’t get the memo. With tired legs battling the heavy mud, Berko still found their quality. A brilliant through ball sent Evans racing clear, and she kept her composure 1v1 to tuck away Berko’s third.

A gritty, disciplined performance in dreadful conditions, and today’s result lifts Berkhamsted FC Ladies to 2nd in the league.

Not bad at all for a newly promoted side who move up to second in the Premier Division table!
